Gasp
Brian McCauley, known as Gasp, graduated from Ithaca College in 1996 with a BS in Photography. He discovered glass flameworking in 1998 and spent the next five years immersed in the craft, becoming part of the second wave of pipemakers. His style pushed the boundaries of shaping and patterning, influenced by San Francisco's urban culture and street art. In 2003, he organized the first-ever gallery showing of glass pipes. After a break from glass between 2010-2015, he returned to explore new styles, focusing on techniques like subtle layering of gold and silver fume, heavily saturated colored glass, vibrant transparents, and imitation of ceramic techniques.
